NDP DEMANDS HARPER RESPECT GLOBAL CONSENSUS ON SREBRENICA GENOCIDE
OTTAWA – With even the Serbian parliament acknowledging the Srebenica Massacre as a genocide, Canada’s distinction as the only western country to have not officially recognised it is an embarrassment and disgrace.
New Democrat MP Brian Masse (Windsor West), along with leaders of the Canadian Bosniak community and survivors of the Srebrenica genocide, will hold a press conference calling on the Prime Minister to explain and rescind his veto of a plan to acknowledge the genocide and call for a Srebrenica Remembrance Day.
Prior to the Prime Minister’s rejection, the Minister of Foreign Affairs’ office had already approved the motion.
