The Congress of North American Bosniaks (CNAB) sent a letter of congratulations to Samantha Power today regarding her final confirmation as the new U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. Ambassador Power is a long time champion of human rights and an advocate for prevention of genocide and a strong U.S. policy in Bosnia since her days as a reporter of the war in the 1990s. Your Excellency,

On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Congress of North American Bosniaks (CNAB), representing interests of approximately 350,000 Bosniaks living in the United States and Canada, I would like to congratulate you on the confirmation of your appointment as the United States Ambassador to the United Nations.

Because of your proven history of promoting peace and justice for Bosnia and Herzegovina and the victims of genocide, we are confident that your appointment will lead to an even bigger role of the United States in promoting policies that will strengthen the country of our origin, Bosnia and Herzegovina, on her path to euro-Atlantic integrations.

At CNAB, we believe that preservation of the truth about the Bosnian genocide, and prevention of genocide denial is essential to long term stability in the region. Thus, we kindly ask that in your new role, you help sponsor a United Nations Resolution commemorating July 11 as Srebrenica Genocide Remembrance Day.

Wishing you continued success in your new position; we offer our assistance and cooperation in helping Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Bosniak people who are victims of ethnic cleansing and genocide.
