H.E. Ban Ki-moon
Secretary General
United Nations
1 United Nations Plaza
New York, NY 10017

Your Excellency,

On behalf of 350,000 Bosnian Americans, and 50,000 Bosnian Canadians we would like to express our disappointment at your attendance of the concert held at the United Nations that was organized by Vuk Jeremic, President of the 67th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.  The concert was a scandalous insult to the victims of genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) because the orchestra played the infamous and offensive Serb nationalist song “March on the River Drina”.

The genocide that occurred in Srebrenica and Zepa, and other parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, was conducted by Serbian aggressors while blasting this song as they raped, murdered, and ethnically cleansed the non-Serb population. This particular fascist song is used to inspire ethnic and nationalist hatred against everything non-Serb and was used as a tool to inspire the murder of thousands of non-Serb civilians at the hand of Serbian nationalists. It is deplorable that the same song echoed last night at the United Nations with the wholehearted support of the UN.

Because of the shameful role of the United Nations in the genocide committed by Serb forces in cities across Bosnia and Herzegovina, it is dreadful to see the United Nations Hall be used for a performance of a warmongering song under which the war crimes and genocide in Bosnia and Herzegovina have been committed.

Mr. Secretary, we urge you and the United Nations to issue a public apology to all the victims of war crimes in BiH committed in the name of Serbian nationalism.

We also call upon the Permanent Representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the United Nations, H.E. Ms. Mirsada Colakovic, copied on this letter, to issue an official protest to the U.N. for this shameful act.

Sincerely,
