CNAB welcomes Canada’s resolution on Srebrenica genocide

Congress of North American Bosniaks welcomes the Canadian parliament’s resolution {M-416} recognizing Srebrenica genocide and honoring the victims of the worst atrocity in Europe since World War II. The fact that the resolution was voted unanimously by all present members of the parliament means that Canada has joined the rest of the world in condemning genocide and all those who condone such policies, and honors the victims by ensuring that the Srebrenica genocide can never be disputed by those who wish to revise historical facts for political gain.

Despite the challenges by some members of the Canadian government, the final unanimous vote gives us all hope and confidence that truth and justice always prevail in the end. We sincerely thank the members of the Canadian parliament for all they have done to support the Canadian Bosniaks and the Canadian people for continuing to support them in their new homeland. We especially thank the following members for making this day a reality with their initiative and support over the last few years:

Brian Masse, a member of the Canadian parliament (New Democratic Party of Canada), the parliamentary sponsor of the Srebrenica genocide resolution.

Rob Oliphant, a member of the Canadian parliament (Liberal Party of Canada), a sponsor of a private member’s bill for Srebrenica Remembrance Day.

Jean Augustine, member of the Liberal party of Canada and a close friend of the Bosniak community,

Pierre Pettigrew, member of the Liberal party of Canada ,
