Washington, D.C. — The Congress of Bosniaks of North America (CBNA) successfully wrapped up a week of advocacy in Washington, D.C., meeting with Senate and House offices, executive branch officials, and D.C.-based organizations. Discussions with U.S. officials, legislators, policy experts, and civil society leaders highlighted the strategic importance of Southeast Europe—especially Bosnia and Herzegovina—within the broader “America First” foreign policy framework.
During these meetings, CBNA underscored how stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina aligns with U.S. national security interests, highlighted the ongoing malign influences in the Western Balkans, and stressed the importance of American engagement in the region to prevent further instability. The discussions reaffirmed Bosnia’s place in U.S. foreign policy priorities and the need for continued transatlantic cooperation to counter threats to democracy and human rights.
In addition, CBNA is proud to announce a new project with the Library of Congress aimed at enriching its collection on Bosnia and the Bosniak people. A meeting with Library officials resulted in the launch of a Bosniak-American community book donation initiative to enhance the representation of Bosnia and Bosniak heritage in the world’s largest library. This effort will ensure that future generations of scholars and researchers have access to authentic and comprehensive resources on Bosniak history, culture, and heritage.
Further cementing the legacy and contributions of the Bosniak-American community, the Library of Congress has officially selected CBNA’s website (https://bosniak.org/) for inclusion in the Voices: Eastern and Central European Americans Web Archive. In its notification, the Library stated:
“The United States Library of Congress has selected your website for inclusion in the Voices: Eastern and Central European Americans Web Archive, which is part of a larger collection of historically and culturally significant websites that have been designated for preservation. The Library hopes that you share its vision of preserving digital content and making it available to current and future generations of researchers. As the internet has become an increasingly important and influential part of our lives, we believe the historical record would be incomplete if websites like yours are not preserved and made a part of it.”
CBNA is deeply honored by this recognition and grateful to the Library of Congress staff for their commitment to curating a comprehensive collection of perspectives and points of view. We remain committed to preserving and promoting Bosniak identity, history, and contributions within the American historical record.
